Rural Services Tarsus Research Institute

One of the eleven research institutes of General Directorate of Rural Services is located in the town of Tarsus and named "Rural Services Tarsus Research Institute". This institute has mainly been working at southern part of Turkey including provinces of Antalya, İçel, Adana, Osmaniye, Hatay, and K.Maraş. Çukurova, the largest plain of Turkey and one of the most fertile plains of the world is at this region. This region has typical mediterranean climate having dry and hot summers, rainy and mild winters. Institute was established in 1947 and had 5 substations on totally 300 ha land in different places. Research works generally carried out on the fields of this substations, but sometimes on private farms and some other government owned areas.
