GDRS provides agricultural infrastructure services that are of the utmost importance for the country's development. The directorate takes great care to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural projects it implements.

GDRS operates project directorates that implement programmes directed towards land consolidation, rational utilisation of the water and soil resources, measures for the prevention of soil erosion and the amending of land tenure and ownership.
The implementation of large-scale developments by the Project Directorate of Manisa-Gediz, the Project Directorate of Bolatlar GAP and the Project Directorate of Iğdir, aim to address inadequate agricultural productivity deriving from the lack of sub-tertiary irrigation works. These projects will also address the disparities between land newly put under irrigation and land already irrigated.
