Rural Services Menemen Research Institute

Rural Services Menemen Research Institute was founded on 31 ha area nearby the town in 1949 four years later than the irrigation system of Menemen Plain was established. Main field of interest and research activities are as follows; to improve the use of soil and water sources of region, to demonstrate modern
irrigation and agricultural techniques to the farmers, to supply data and information for investment projects which are carried out by some institutions working in the same field. The research activities are carried out on 31 ha of land at the main campus and substations which are Ortaköy (60.3 ha), Köycegiz (182 ha), Kusadasi-Davutlar (10.8 ha), Söke (10.9 ha), Balikesir (5 ha), Denizli-Civril (4 ha). On farm researchs are carried out at these locations and farmer's land. The Institute works on 7 provinces including Izmir, Manisa, Aydin, Denizli, Mugla, Balikesir and Canakkale.
