Rural Services Erzurum Research Institute was established in 1979 and located at the 12th km of Erzurum-Ankara highway. Erzurum Research Institute include, namely, the development of soil and water resources, producing optimum yield per unit area, searching for effective and economic solutions to the erosion problem which is gradually becoming critical, adapting the most modern farm mechanization, developing techniques for land preparation to provide the soil in dry farming and collecting data needed by engineering units in East Anatolian climate and soil conditions. The institute provides technical assistance to investment section of Rural Services and DSI. Institute's working area contains Ağrı, Ardahan, Bingöl, Bitlis, Erzincan, Erzurum, Bayburt, Hakkari, Iğdır, Kars, Muş, Tunceli and Van provinces. The institute owned land of Ilıca 25 ha, Pasinler 40 ha and Iğdır 15 ha research stations. Institute prepares field days, demonstrations, seminars and farmer meetings.
